SUPERSONIC FLOW PAST SLENDER POINTED BODIES OF REVOLUTION AT YAW
( Department of Mathematics, The University Manchester )
The effect of a slender body of revolution of thickness t and arbitrary shape, held with its axis at an angle
to a uniform supersonic stream, is considered. By use of the exact equations of isentropic motion an expression for the pressure coefficient is obtained accurate enough to give the lift and moment coefficients as sums of terms of orders
3,
t2, and
t2log t1, and the drag coefficient as a sum of terms of orders t2, t2logt1, and
2, terms of smaller order (only) being neglected in each case.
