NOTE ON A SOURCE IN A ROTATING FLUID

The effect of introducing an irrotational source into a rotating fluid has been studied by Barua. In this note, results are obtained which are based on a different hypothesis from that of Barua's. The relation between the maximum flow rate which the source achieves and the speed of a long wave on the surface dividing two régimes of flow is also pointed out. A numerical solution is found for the shape of this dividing surface by means of relaxation methods.
