THE SOUTHWELL METHOD FOR PREDICTING CRITICAL LOADS OF ELASTIC STRUCTURES

The experimental determination of the critical loads of isolated pin-ended struts by the Southwell plot is well known. In this paper it is shown that the Southwell method may be extended to the prediction of the elastic critical loads of plane frameworks.
