SLOW MOTION OF A NON-NEWTONIAN LIQUID PAST A SPHERE

S. L. RATHNA

( Department of Applied Mathematics, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore 12, India )

The motion of a non-Newtonian liquid past a sphere has been investigated for small Reynolds number. It has been found that the drag on the sphere due to a non-Newtonian liquid is greater than the drag due to a Newtonian fluid. The effect of cross-viscosity on the stream lines has been represented graphically.
