NOTE ON CALCULATION OF TIME-LAG

In the preceding paper (1), Pattle and Monaghan infer by a finite difference calculation a result (their equation (11)) about the asymptotic behaviour in time of the solution of a boundary value problem for a partial differential equation (their equation (10)). The purpose of this note is to give an alternative derivation of this result, and also to derive equation (9) of the preceding paper, relating the time-lag to the exponential decay times.
