DIFFRACTION BY TWO COAXIAL APERTURES

D. P. THOMAS

( Dept. of Applied Mathematics, The University Liverpool, 3. )

In this paper diffraction of small-amplitude acoustic waves by two parallel, hard, plane screens containing two coaxial, circular apertures is investigated. The problem is shown to depend on the solutions of a pair of simultaneous Fredholm integral equations of the second kind.

In the special case when the apertures are equal and the incident wave is a low-frequency axisymmetric plane wave, an approximation to the plane wave transmission coefficient is calculated.
