DIFFRACTION OF SHORT WAVELENGTHS BY A RIGID CIRCULAR DISK

A singular integral equation is found for the pressure distribution on a rigid circular disk in an axisymmetric sound wave. From this integral equation is derived an asymptotic development of the solution which is valid at short wavelengths. The error caused by stopping at any particular stage is also discussed. Detailed calculations are given for a plane wave at normal incidence.
