A NON-UNIQUENESS OF THE HYPERSONIC BOUNDARY LAYER
S. N. BROWN and
K. STEWARTSON
(

)
The non-uniqueness of the solution in the neighbourhood of the leading edge of a flat plate in a hypersonic free stream discovered by Neiland (1) is further investigated. The appropriate hyperbolic equations are considered in the inviscid flow between the shock wave and the boundary layer rather than the tangent-wedge approximation used hitherto.
