SOME FURTHER RESULTS ON SEPARATION IN STOKES FLOWS

A. M. J. DAVIS

( Department of Mathematics, University College London )

The first section of this note describes the results of further calculations made to explain certain features which were not considered in a previous paper on axisymmetric eddy motions between fluid spheres in a streaming Stokes flow. The second section shows that the limiting angle of separation in Stokes flows need not be the commonly occurring 58°36' found by previous authors, but can in certain circumstances have the value 48°9'.
