ORTHOGONAL POLYNOMIAL SOLUTIONS TO SOME MIXED BOUNDARY-VALUE PROBLEMS IN ELASTICITY. III

R. SHAIL

( Department of Mathematics, University of Surrey Guildford )

Solutions involving orthogonal polynomials are derived for a class of isothermal crack problems in which equal shear-stress distributions are applied to the faces of a penny-shaped crack in an infinite isotropic elastic medium. Results for thermoelastic problems in which the solid is deformed by the application of a prescribed temperature flux to the crack faces are also given.
