ON THE HEAD WAVE ENVELOPE IN A HALF-SPACE OF ARBITRARY ELASTIC ANISOTROPY

Two complementary derivations, one in terms of slowness, one in terms of phase velocity, leading to dual forms of parametric equations for the general head wave envelope, occasioned by a point source of loading on an elastic half-space of arbitnry anistropy, are presented.

The two sets of equations are shown to be consistent and the special case of isotropy is used to verify the alternative formulations.
