QUALITATIVE PROPERTIES OF FINITE-ELEMENT MODELS I: STURM-LIOUVILLE SYSTEMS

Many important qualitative properties of Sturm-Liouville systems centre around the oscillatory character of the Green's function. It is shown that many of these properties are shared also by the piecewise-linear finite-element models of Sturm-Liouville systems.
