A KINEMATIC PROPERTY OF THE ARTICULATED QUADRILATERAL
( Department of Aeronautics and Fluid Mechanics, The University Glasgow )
It is shown that when an articulated quadrilateral moves in its own plane in such a manner that the normals to the paths of two opposite vertices meet on the diagonal through the other pair of vertioes, then the normals to the paths of the latter vertices meet on the diagonal through the first pair of vertices. This is also true for a spherical quadrilateral. The properties of the plane and spherical Peaucellier cells are special cases of the property.
