It is shown that any descriptive property of the instantaneous centres and normals to point paths of a set of rigid bodies in coplanar motion is preserved when the system is projected on a plane. A similar result holds for motion on a spherical surface. Proofs of kinematic properties may be simplified by use of this principl.
