BENDING OF A CURVED BAR IN ITS OWN PLANE{dagger}

D. RADENKOVIC

( Beograd, Yugoslavia )

The problem of the plane bending of curved bars is dealt with under the assumptions that: (1) the influence of the deflexion on the conditions of equilibrium has to be taken into account; (2) the deflexion is, however, so small that the squares and the products of the displacements and their derivatives can be neglected. Linearizing the Kirchhoff-Clebsch equations of equilibrium and introducing a suitable fictitious loading, the basic integral equations of the problem are formulated. These equations permit a qualitative analysis of the problem and at the same time yield a ready numerical analysis of any particular case. The application and the practical importance of the proposed theory is shown in a numerical example.
